As a staff engineer for `Storefront Tools & Services` org (~70 engineers), my responsibilities include - o Design & Implementation- Helped design and implement Wayfair’s post order fulfillment domain (composed of decoupled microservices) for assembly / installation service orders.- Designed and developed the suite of containerized backend components (microservices & batch workloads) responsible for dynamic loading of add-on services for Wayfair products.- To expedite decoupling of domains from the existing monolith application, developed a proof of concept Kubernetes pod solution with ‘strangler fig’ sidecar to reduce decoupling time per endpoint from multiple sprints to less than a week.- Contributed to Wayfair’s internal application libraries and infra as code components (auth module, base Helm charts etc.)o Operationalizing Best Practices- Created the backend engineering strategy document for ‘Services’ org, which includes the long term (2 year) vision, strategy and tactical steps to realize it.- Operationalized ‘API-first’ development by building tooling for autogenerating API stubs, versioning and distributing OpenAPI Specification (OAS).- Identified engineering health metrics for the org, developed components for data collection and built reporting to leadership for accountability.- Created a framework for lightweight architecture reviews within the org which led to 50% reduction in code review time & sponsored multiple architecture RFCs within the org. o Team Building & Leadership- As a technical interviewer, interviewed (phone & onsite) and evaluated candidates for senior / staff engineering positions at regular cadence.- As a panelist on the tech promotion panel, reviewed and provided feedback for promotion submissions for senior and staff levels.- Sponsored and mentored perspective code reviewers as well as mentored engineers to senior/staff levels.

• Helped scale Wayfair's Home Services business and the engineering team (5 engineers -> 25 engineers) as an individual contributor and tech lead.• Designed the system for Wayfair’s home services fulfillment platform (greenfield project) including the relational database; backend platform to support order processing, service professional matching and invoicing; and GraphQL data layer for the app to consume / mutate data.• Developed the order processing and matching pipeline (PHP) for service fulfillment platform.• Provided code reviews for PHP code across the org as a certified reviewer.• As the tech lead, helped with planning of individual sprints by grooming requirements, scoping tasks and prioritizing with respective stake holders.• Worked with business and product teams to plan & build quarterly and half yearly tech roadmaps for engineering teams I was leading.• Broke down large projects (up to 300 sprint points) into smaller stories and tasks, identified dependencies, planned sprints, coordinated with cross functional teams and led teams to project completion successfully on multiple instances. • Evaluated Wayfair labs candidates for team placement by reviewing their progress as part of the labs placement committee.
