I studied abroad for an academic year in Bosnia and Herzegovina. While there I attended a local high school, stayed with a host family, and learned the local language, Bosnian. Through this experience I learned so much about the cultural, political, and social difference between our countries. I also was able to give back to my host community through volunteering often. Through this year I gained more independence and self reliance. I persevered through the difficult parts and took advantage as much as possible of the incredible opportunity I had through this scholarship to be there.
