Nurses can look and act many different ways. As a RN, BSN graduate, I choose to be a nurse of compassion and respect, for both patients and coworkers. I choose to be a nurse of strong work ethic and critical thinking skills for complicated situations. I choose to be a nurse of integrity and teachability throughout my career. I choose to be a nurse who goes above the bare minimum in providing safe care. I choose to use these characteristics to uplift and better my patients, coworkers, and work environment. My passion for caregiving flourished as I, starting from a young age, helped with and nannied a neighbor with a rare genetic disease called Rett Syndrome. Qualities of compassion, being teachable, patience, critical thinking, and going the extra mile for my neighbor developed naturally. Since then, those attributes have grown and evolved throughout my education and professional experience. I have come to realize that caregiving is not only my choice of career, but my lifestyle, my personality, and who I am.
