Multimedia Student Supervisors (MSSs) are responsible for overseeing the operations of the Freedman Center under the guidance of the Digital Learning & Scholarship Librarian. They will be responsible for training new Multimedia Student Assistants (MSAs), supervising MSAs, ensuring proper procedure is followed, assisting with scheduling, finding coverage for shift vacancies, troubleshooting issues, keeping the procedures manual up to date, giving input on employee reviews, and providing suggestions for improvement of Center operations. Additionally, MSSs will be responsible for the same duties as MSAs: providing a broad range of support to library patrons, including assistance with photo & poster printing, a/v digitization, scanning, and providing referrals to other library departments as necessary. Employees frequently use multimedia-related tools including video and audio editing software, scanners, large format printers, and Adobe products such as Acrobat and Photoshop. MSSs will also work on departmental projects and additional tasks as assigned.

Multimedia Student Assistants (MSAs) in the Freedman Center are responsible for providing a range of multimedia support including general customer assistance, photo & poster printing, and scanning for digitization projects. Employees frequently use multimedia-related tools including video and audio editing software, scanners, large format printers, and Adobe products such as Acrobat and Photoshop. During scheduled shifts, MSAs will provide assistance to patrons who need help using the technology within the Freedman Center, conduct intake of poster drop offs, as well as print posters using large format printers. These employees will also work on departmental projects and tasks including digitization of materials for Digital Case and Premium Services as assigned. Prompt reporting of issues with software and hardware to managers is expected.
