In my role as an M.A. candidate at WWU, I wrote a thesis about ways to create climate policy with broader appeal among evangelical Christians. I also taught and evaluated undergraduate students in courses exploring the intersection of humans and the environment.

As an intern through the Student Conservation Association, I managed the park's social media accounts, planned and coordinated high-attendance events and assisted with grant-writing efforts.I also interfaced with visitors via historical interpretation and engaged in ecological restoration projects and archaeological digs.

Hill Magazine is the student magazine at the University of Arkansas. As copy editor, I changed rough drafts into award-winning long-form journalism. Hill Magazine won Best Magazine, Best Nonfiction Writing and Best Photo Story for Region 4 at the 2018 Society of Professional Journalists Awards. At the national SPJ awards, Hill Magazine was a named a finalist for best magazine, meaning that it was one of the top three student magazines in the country.

I secured in-kind donations for fundraising events, designed promotional materials, compiled relevant data and participated in media planning in addition to other organization and communication activities. I also had the opportunity to lobby for adoption- and child-focused legislation on Capitol Hill.

I edited all opinion section submissions for AP style, grammar, spelling and fluidity.

The Arkansas Traveler is the student newspaper at the University of Arkansas. I wrote for both the news and features sections during this time period, covering everything from campus construction to new breweries in town. I also wrote event previews, reviews of local theatre and was privileged to write a profile of Miss America 2017 Savvy Shields.
