Special education teacher in a small self-contained classroom supporting students K-5 with behavioral needs. Daily tasks include teaching core academic content with an emphasis on social emotional learning, assisting students in de-escalation using trauma-informed positive reinforcement and coping strategies, and collaborating with team members, administrators, and families to support student success. I also spend time planning lessons, creating and preparing instructional activities, building and modifying student and staff schedules, and writing and revising individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
