Profile bio

About Sydney Mcmillen (Roberts)

If someone had told me when I graduated college what my career path would look like, I never would have believed them. Thankfully, the best gifts are the ones we least expect! My education and passion is around nonprofit leadership and international development; working with communities in proximity to poverty to empower their self-identified goals, mobilize local resources, and partner to find a sustainable path to improvement around their identified needs. My career started in international innovation testing - working with local communities in low and middle income countries to understand their urgent needs and innovative dreams, ideating with them on co-designed solutions, and then testing product or program solutions to determine if they could be scaled regionally or globally. Through these tests, I worked with developers, designers and teammates across the organization to create new processes to support these new products and programs we tested. Here is where product management entered the scene: expanding a concept from an innovation test to a fully integrated product experience! Now, I am thrilled to be in product management with a specific interest in global products that serve communities in poverty, leaning on my skills in being neighbor (or customer) obsessed, working cross-functionally to operationalize a new product offering, documenting product behavior / requirements, setting strategy and vision and goals, and getting to do all of it alongside the best team of product folks, developers and designers. I never imagined I would work in technology development, but I am now completely convinced that technology can be the most scalable path to empowering people across the world!

Listed skills include Nonprofit Organizations, Project Management, Cross Cultural Communication Skills, Test Planning, and 7 others.
