As Special Projects Coordinator, I take on a variety of projects within SCTR's Office of Science Development. South Carolina Clinical and Translational Research Institute (SCTR) is an NIH-funded CTSA. Throughout the year, I coordinate and host 5-8 meetings of 100+ attendees. In 2021, these events all took place on Zoom. The events, particularly our DEI Retreat, have been a resounding success, with attendees forming working groups following the event. In addition, I host our annual External and Internal Advisory Committee meetings. To prepare for these events, I set up the Zoom session, manage communication between committee members and SCTR, and edit and proofread all premeeting materials. Throughout the year, I work on communications projects, including internal website refreshes, specialty email newsletters through Mailchimp and Bananatag, writing promotional copy, and designing event flyers in Canva and Adobe InDesign. Between November and February, I focus on our annual report. I interface with researchers on ensuring public access compliance of any papers that reference our grant. Additionally, I update biosketches and funding statements for PIs and SCTR Leadership.

As Design Editor for The Changing Times, I create an eye-catching design for the magazine, focusing on the issue's thematic elements and the urgency of the climate crisis. As a designer, I have extensive experience with both Adobe InDesign and Affinity Publisher. In addition, I work with our editorial team to decide on issue themes, accept and reject content, and edit submitted content.In recent issues, I have contributed to the magazine by writing book and film reviews, profiles of local environmental leaders, and a feature on connecting children with nature.

In my role as Co-EIC, I am responsible for operational management of the magazine, copy-editing, and design assistance. I work closely with my Co-EIC to plan for future issues, develop timelines, and fundraise. Issues 1 - 3 have been released. Issues 4 - 6 are currently in development and will be released in 2023.

In my role, I move books and other print products through the editing process, collaborating with writer, illustrator, layout designer, marketer, and fulfillment coordinator on deadlines. For our publications, I am the point of contact for the writer throughout these stages, working one-on-one with writers to prepare their writing for publication. Our co-op collaborates on marketing opportunities, future print projects, and online publications for our blog/newsletter. For each of these projects I work on the written work and implement publishing schedules, create project guidelines, and serve as the project coordinator.Since October 2022, I have spearheaded and written for Peregrine Post, a monthly postcard subscription to support the Press and build community among our followers.Projects I Lead: Peregrine Post Peregrine Pocketbooks

Currently, I brainstorm, plan, write, and edit bimonthly blog posts for the Earth Within Flowers blog. Each blog posts targets an SEO keyphrase and focuses on topics important to the tenets of Earth Within Flowers: herbalism, plant wisdom, wedding planning, wedding flowers, Montana wedding vendors, and floristry.

Much of my role consisted of writing and editing online content for the Earth Within Flowers website and social media pages. Each week, I wrote an SEO-aligned blog post on topics including herbalism, ethical forestry, design concepts, or trending styles. Additionally, I used SEO strategy to increase website traffic. Alongside the owner of Earth Within Flowers, I developed weekly social media strategies for Instagram and Facebook, focusing specifically on increasing engagement, website views, and finding new clients.Furthermore, I worked with the owner to brainstorm the development of online class and DIY offerings, weekly meditation videos, and other online educational content.

In my position, I work to engage students in standards-based reading curriculum to support their development as readers, for both virtual and face-to-face students. This includes collaborating with the ELA department to design coursework and choose texts for my three on-level courses and implement the Read180 curriculum for my two remedial classes. Additionally, I facilitate weekly Reading CCC meetings to ensure cohesive curriculum implementation across grade levels and discuss new EdTech and instructional practices. Since September, I have served as the sponsor for Environmental Club. Environmental Club meets biweekly, and through this organization I have engaged students in environmentalism and helped them develop their skills as naturalists.

I planned weekly poetry lessons for two classes of elementary school students, with a focus on fostering creative expression and writing confidence. During the lessons, I led brainstorming activities, taught poetry structures and forms, and worked with students one-on-one during their writing. At the end of the lesson, I created a welcoming environment for all students to share their writing without fear of embarrassment. In March 2020, I transitioned to digital instruction, utilizing instructional technology to create engaging lessons for all students.

As an intern I assisted experienced poetry teachers in public school classrooms with mentoring and supporting student writers in 3rd through 8th grade. During these lessons, I worked one-on-one or in small groups with students to brainstorm ideas and provide clarity about instructions and poetry form and structure. Additionally, I worked as a counselor during MWC's annual summer camp, ensuring student safety during field trips and leading experiential poetry lessons based on field trip activities.

I facilitated biweekly planning meetings with 10-20 core team members to plan upcoming projects, decide on local and statewide campaigns, and organize community gatherings. In addition, I implemented promotional campaigns for upcoming events using social media, email marketing, and paper flyers throughout the community. In early Winter 2020 (before the COVID-19 pandemic), I was instrumental in organizing a Climate Conversations series. These community-wide gatherings featured a speaker, dinner, and discussion open to the Missoula community. At that time, I also worked closely with the core team members to design a climate-information campaign ahead of the 2020 Montana spring primary.

In partnership with the other Senior Editor and our Editorial Board, I reviewed magazine submissions to decide on acceptances and publications, utilizing the Submittable platform. Further, I managed the magazine's budget, including funding applications, magazine sales, and working with community sponsors. I have also planned Camas community events for the Missoula area including the Wild Mercy Reading Series, featuring readings by current Environmental Studies graduate students and alum of the program. Additionally, myself and my co-editor organized the annual Prairie Songs (PS) event. PS serves as Camas's fundraising event, as well as the magazine release party for the Summer issue. Throughout my editorship, I focused on increasing the social media influence of Camas, in an effort to engage audiences and advertise the magazine.

While working closely with the Editors in Chief, I created social media campaigns to boost altmetrics of journal articles, encourage submissions, and foster an academic community excited about autobiography studies.

I worked alongside permanent MNHC Staff to develop curriculum and schedules for the summer outdoor education program, focusing specifically on preschool and kindergarten Outdoor Skills, and 3rd-5th grade Geology. Throughout the week, I partnered with a Co-Instructor to lead lessons, foster exploration, and manage students so they have a safe and rewarding learning experience. In my pedagogy, I often focused on experiential learning, letting the students choose activities that cater to their interests and then forming lessons and group activities around my students' interests. Additionally, I formed close relationships with each parent to ensure that they are informed of their child's daily educational experiences.

Working with 350 Montana's action and leadership teams, I helped form social media strategy to garner comments on NorthWestern Energy's 2019 Procurement Plan. This included a boosted FaceBook post, Instagram campaign, and increased Twitter presence.

As a Graduate Teaching Assistant in the Freshman Composition program, I developed lesson plans focused on college-level writing techniques and strategies. Further, my classes incorporated group-learning exercises and short assignments to foster creativity, curiosity, and self-guided research. I often worked individually with my students on their writing assignments and revisions to ensure that they were reaching their full potential as writers and undergraduate students. In our meetings, I provided feedback and assistance to encourage their educational growth. In doing this work, I fostered mentoring relationships with many of my students and continue to support them in their undergraduate careers.
