Mama Maji supports women innovating in water around the world, providing the training and support critical to empower them to create the communities and businesses they envision. Since founding, Mama Maji has trained 700+ women in Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Sudan, and Zimbabwe in building businesses and leading in their community, 300 of these women became Maji Mamas, training 25,000+ in critical issues of water and sanitation and providing 42,000 people with clean water.Started and built an innovative nonprofit working at the intersection of women, business, and water to directly provide the training and services women in the developing world were requesting. Developed and facilitated curriculum in business 101, collaborative business development, leadership, public speaking, marketing, and crowdfunding. Fostered 30+ partnerships with public, private, and governmental organizations and hundreds of personal relationships across six countries, setting a solid organizational foundation for organizational development and growth.

Oversaw fundraising, evaluation, finance, talent, communications, operations, and the coworking facility. Led the development of organization-wide processes and policies to manage salary, hiring, budget development, budget management, organizational and program logic model development, policy and advocacy work planning, and coworking sales. Strengthened organizational systems and processes to ensure drama-free scaling from 7 to 28 FTE. Restructured the Finance and Operations departments to account for scaling processes and improve effectiveness and efficiency across the organization. Redesigned coworking management and operation, increasing total revenue from an annual loss of $20K to an surplus sufficient to support full facility functions with an additional $5,000 for operations and repairs. Raised an additional $4.4M to support social innovation. Proposal acceptance rate during this time period was 82.8 percent with a conversion rate of 79.2 percent of all dollars requested. Increased the percentage of recurring donors from 38.5 percent in 2017 to 77.8 percent in 2019.

Conceptualized and developed a new department to manage the internal evaluation and external reporting for all Propeller’s programs. Developed and implemented data collection plans and oversaw the development of reports that were used for decision making by the Programs team and donor cultivation by the Development team. Identified, prioritized, and completed a historical reconstruction of seven years of data to ensure quality and high resolution data for communications and fundraising.Raised an additional $2.2M to support social innovation, 95.3 percent of which came from institutional funders and government grants and contracts. My grant acceptance rate during this period was 57.1 percent with a conversion of 40.3 percent of all dollars requested.

Built the development department, establishing fundraising processes and standard procedures to ensure operations scaled as the organizational budget grew from $600,000 to $2.25M. Engaged Programs personnel in fundraising, providing training and mentorship in donor identification and cultivation. Spearheaded events to highlight Propeller and its entrepreneurs with key stakeholders including the U.S. Department of Commerce, Ashoka, the National Women's Business Council, the Delta Regional Authority, JPMorgan Chase, and Case Foundation.
