After receiving my Bachelors of Arts at the University of Saskatchewan, I knew I wanted to work in the non-profit world. When the new position of Communications Assistant at the Saskatchewan Craft Council (SCC) opened up in 2015, it was an excellent chance to get my foot in the door. I handle the SCC's social media platforms, website development, online communication, and general marketing strategies with the goal of raising awareness and garnering support for professional contemporary craft artists in our province. I am enthusiastic about clear communication and online promotion and enjoy my work with the SCC tremendously. My passion for the arts began with a love of music and has grown to an appreciation of all creative industries. I love to support local artists in my community. My past work with Saskatoon band Friends of Foes introduced me to the music industry and my full-time position at the Saskatchewan Craft Council has taught me quite a bit about about the craft and visual art scene in our province.I am also very passionate about social justice and the fight for equality for marginalized groups in our society. My undergraduate degree in Sociology spurred a passionate thirst for knowledge in the areas of feminism, racism, Indigenous issues, homophobia, transphobia, fatphobia, and social justice in general. I believe that education is the key to bringing our communities together to fight against these inequalities, especially in rural parts of the prairies. Although I haven't been involved in social justice professionally, I am very interested in working in these areas in the future.
