My name is Sydnie McGue and I am a graduate of The Ohio State University, where I attended the Fisher College of Business to obtain my Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in Marketing with a minor in both Communications and Design Thinking. In my studies, I challenged myself through my difficult course load and participate in school activities, such as being a teaching assistant for the introductory finance course that is required for every student at The Fisher College of Business. Here, in addition to my own course load, I collaborated with my peers, both as my colleagues and students, as well as senior lecturer Professor Susan Clark. At the National Federation of Independent Business, I was tasked with making marketing calls for upcoming events in targeted areas of the state. Additionally, at the accounting firm Bashore Reineck Stoller and Waterman, I learned the importance of deadlines and getting tasks done in a timely manner for customers; this was particularly important working with personal and business taxes, but also allowed me to be organized and work efficiently. Working as a teaching assistant has also allowed me the opportunity to prepare class material and present it to a class with public speaking, just as if I were preparing and giving a presentation to an important client. I have recently begun my role as a wedding planning and social media intern at Petal & Pop Weddings. Here, I communicate with vendors, work alongside other coordinators to ensure the event is running to schedule, and prepare social media strategies as well as marketing materials when prompted.In my work experiences, I have learned many skills which can be utilized in any work environment, such as communication, content creation and design, data analysis, public speaking, organization, and presentation skills. I also obtain many marketing specific skills, including digital marketing, market research, as well as marketing campaigns and strategy. I am eager to get my career started and develop these skills further!
