Sydney graduated from San Jose State University in May 2018 with a degree in Software Engineering. She immediately transitioned to Lockheed Martin’s Business Development team where she worked as a software engineer specializing in full stack development utilizing the MEAN stack. Previously, she worked in big data development for large space missions such as Orion, GOES, and OSIRIS-REx. She worked in developing the big data infrastructure utilizing open source Apache tools, such as Hadoop. She also volunteers to work on small front end projects within the company to keep her time fully occupied.She worked at Nordstrom on event streaming for inventory management. She built Kafka pipelines for various inventory events. She worked to scale kubernetes pods based on usage during sale seasons and large tests. She helped with interviewing for engineering positions as well.She worked at Omni Federal doing development on maps and map data. She helped transfer data and keep software secure. She worked on pipeline processes to build and deploy applications into Openshift with helm. She currently works at CoBank for their transition from on premises to cloud. She is determining applications that are used, documenting and building out dockerfiles to move them to AWS.In her spare time, she volunteers teaching high school students robotics and helping with recruitment. She also helps with local hackathons and mentored high school and college interns at Lockheed Martin.
