Major responsibilities include: Providing comprehensive direction and coordination and management of personnel in 24/7 Clinical Laboratory Direct the administrative, scientific and financial functions for the departmentEvaluate personnel in accordance with performance standards in each section of the laboratory including Main Lab., OPD Lab., ER, satellite clinics Develop and implements the department’s continuous quality improvement program (CQIP), safety, environmental, infection control and compliance issues with regards to CLIA, ADHS, JCAHO and COLA regulations and guidelinesInsures the best quality services; cost contained and in expeditious mannerDevelop, revise, improve and implement Policies and Procedures and SOPs for the 24/7 laboratoryProvide effective direction and policy interpretation to personnel in managing their duties.Formulate, implement and accountable for effective and realistic departmental budgetDirect the department’s continuing education programsOversees cost control measures in utilization of department supplies, materials, equipment & personnelMaintain effective contact with medical care providers to solicit appropriate input, improve and implement policies to make sure that identified problems are addressed in a timely mannerResponsible for preparation of reports, operating work and holiday schedule, payroll records and other statistical data as requiredImplementing a comprehensive proficiency testing program Participate in research activities in infectious disease, metabolic disorders and related areas as per need of local population targeting the identified major health problems.Present and publish research in scientific meetings journals. The major responsibilities include: Reading and reporting results on various benches in diagnostic microbiology including Stool c/s, Urine c/s, Throat c/s, Genitals & GC Screen c/s, Rapid screen tests for throats, Gram’s smears and wet mounts as well as Phoenix and repli auto analyzerEntering culture report into LIS for all positively reported cases using SUN LIS System and review and assuring that reports generated from the auto analyzers are accurately and correctly entered into the LIS & performing corrective actions if neededReporting and sending all reportable disease / isolates to the Public Health Laboratories and reporting all communicable diseases / isolates to the Medical Officer at Ministry of Health Implement quality assurance and quality control and all other functions relevant to this position

Major responsibilities included:Direction and management 700 bedded hospital’s microbiology, clinical pathology & serology sections of the laboratory.Establishment, training and supervision of a team of 18 technical staff consisting of microbiologists and technicians. Preparation and implementation of plans for effective 24/7 operation of all three shifts of laboratory service Introducing advanced methods for serological tests like Roche EIA, IMX and TDX.Adding new tests like serum drug levels and allergy profile tests using advanced and computerized technologies. Responsible for all the policy matters of the department including administrative work and duty roster preparation Development and establishment of the course outline for Post Graduate Diploma Program in diagnostic laboratory sciences (DDLS) for Karachi University. As a chief coordinator, my responsibilities included complete management of teaching program, including hiring of professors as well as training, and examinations for the diploma program.Organization of various refresher courses and study aid lectures for technologist as well as for trainee technicians.Carrying and conducting clinical research projects for several pharmaceutical companies.Presented and published several research papers in scientific meeting symposia and various scientific journals. Development of procedures for the micro-biological monitoring of hospital operating rooms and intensive care units.

Organizing the diagnostic microbiology and serology sections of both the hospitals.Provided consultation to both hospitals microbiology sections simultaneously.Introduced modern technology like EIA, IHA and RID methods in serological tests. Trained and supervised the technical staff in performing lab investigationsAdding new techniques / procedures including AFB culture and fungus culture.

Joined as member of the team of microbiology and serology section of the largest private diagnostic laboratory.Developed skills in procedures and techniques used in all sections of laboratory including Microbiology, Serology Hematology, Blood bank, Clinical Pathology, Clinical Chemistry and Urinalyses sections of the diagnostic lab.Gained expertise in preparation of media, reagents and solutions etc. used in lab.Developed skills in isolation, identification and susceptibility testing for pathogenic bacteria.
