Sylvain Boily is currently Project Manager - Operational Readiness and Commissioning within BBA Field Services, a new business line offered to BBA’s clients since January 2017. He is in charge of supporting and/or leading projects with operational readiness and commissioning activities.In 2018, he was Operational Readiness and Commissioning Manager for the restart of the SIGMA Gold concentrator in Val d’Or QC which produced their first gold ingot on schedule. In 2017, he was project manager of the Quebec Iron Ore Bloom Lake mine restart project in Fermont QC which resumed operation in February 2018 as planned. He has also supported the development of a commissioning execution plan and related procedures for the Tumad Gold mine project in Turkey. In 2016, he acted as commissioning lead for the North American Lithium restart project in LaCorne, Québec.In 2013, as Commissioning Manager, he led the Pre-Operational Verifications (POV) and Commissioning of a new 8-million tonne-per-year iron ore concentrator as part of ArcelorMittal’s owner team in their existing mining facilities of Mount-Wright, QC. In 2010, he also managed the Automation commissioning activities for the EMAL 700,000 tonne-per-year aluminium smelter project in Al Taweelah, Abu Dhabi, a greenfield project built by the EPCM joint venture SNC-Lavalin International/WorleyParsons, which was commissioned three months ahead of schedule.Mr. Boily has worked in the engineering field since 1985 and joined BBA in 2002.
