I was happy and proud to be part of this wonderful team of educators. I began at Heritage as a grade 10 English Language Arts, grade 12 World Issues, and grade 9 Drama . The school added the Grade 10 Science course on my timetable midway through and I gladly accepted the challenge. A year later I was made Middle Years Department Head with the same course load plus a fill-in for an early departure as a Business teacher for half a term. My hard work was rewarded a year later when the school made me the new Elementary Vice Principal, a position I find most rewarding. May the dream of holding this position never end.As a vice principal, I assisted in the development, improvement and administration of the school curriculum, instructional programs, staff and classrooms. I was responsible for the teachers timetables, student schedules, teacher assistant assignments, and school-wide supervision. I handled student discipline and counselled students on personal, educational, and vocational matters. Overall, the greater part of my role consisted in ensuring the academic success of students by supporting teachers and evaluating them, and promoting a safe and healthy school environment for the whole community.
