I am a specialized medtech attorney-at-law based in Geneva providing legal support to cross-border medical device operations worldwide. Clients include medical device manufacturers (large, medium-sized and small), distributors, investors, early-stage inventors, nonprofits, ethics committees, regulators and governments. I am ex Medtronic and ex Cardinal Health Legal International. I am a Partner and the Life Science Practice Head with Appleton Luff International Lawyers (AL), a global boutique law firm with a combined track-record of handling matters in over 100 countries worldwide. I assist in the following types of medtech matters, whether they involve a simple or complicated situation:- specialized/technical contracts negotiation and drafting (e.g. development/supply, distribution, clinical trials, scientific advisory boards)- regulatory issues (e.g. MDR, AI, cross-border issues)- global anti-kickback and trade control (e.g. programme setup, policy/SOP drafting, remediations, including under FCPA)- audits and due diligences- legal/regulatory reformsA dual Canadian-Swiss national, I am registered as an attorney-at-law in the US (NY Bar) and Canada (Quebec Bar), hold a Master of Public Health (MPH) in international health-sector management and a certificate in pharmacology both from Harvard University. Over 25+ years in executive legal, business and compliance roles, I have supported business lines generating hundreds of millions USD in annual sales and closed on deals in countries worldwide working with Big Medtech, Big Pharma and others. I am a current member of Swiss Medtech, the Swiss association of medical device manufacturers (Bern). I am a past member of the Legal Affairs Group of Medtech Europe, the European medtech trade association (Brussels).I developed various university courses on European medtech law (contracting practices, anti-bribery compliance, CE-marking, innovation & IP, post-marketing duties, cases) which I have taught annually at two Swiss universities (EPFL & UNINE) starting in 2010.Starting in 2016 I have been a mentor and judge with start-up accelerator MassChallenge.
