 Provide all equipment needed for circulatory support at time of implantation or insertion.  Perform sterile aspects of mechanical support preparation and assistance intraoperatively and postoperatively. Perform sterile aspects of back table preparation and assistance as directed by implant team of mechanical assist device intraoperatively. Prepare devices per protocols for insertion and implantation; ensure devices are working properly at completion of cases and duration of patient's need.  Accompany patients being transported within hospital to radiology or procedures to ensure that circulatory support system is functioning properly and monitor circulatory assist device and patient during transport.  Answer and provide troubleshooting for questions and concerns regarding mechanical devices for physicians, patients, and family members. Perform rounds on every patient during every shift and inform physicians of any noted incidents and/or complaints. Provide patient and family training with circulatory support devices.  Provide and perform all aspects of circulatory support machinery maintenance; inventory, repair, cleansing  Provide patient and family discharge training in collaboration with Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) /Heart Transplant Coordinators.  Report any accidents, complaints or equipment malfunction to the Supervisor/Manager. Fly with Memorial Hermann LifeFlight to transport cardiac patients on mechanical support devices safely to hospitals.
