Asset Insights develops and markets RFID Software and Solutions for Healthcare, Asset Management and other Enterprise Applications. As Founder and President is responsible for all aspects of the company operations.In 2012, Sylvanus Bent co-founded the International RFID Institute, and formally incorporated the organization in Virginia. He was elected the Chairman and President by the other co-founders, led development of the strategy and operations.He has been one of the most active active contributors to EPCGlobal, and a leading co-author of EPCGlobal's RFID standards including the EPCIS standard published n 2007.At Savi Technology, he was architect and lead manager of an 18 person team distributed on 3 continents for a UK RFID project. The project was awarded the "Supply Chain Solution of the Year" by Deloitte in 2003. Sylvanus was a co-founder and led Product Research and Development, as well as Network Operations at Network24, an Internet streaming company. As the 2nd employee, he helped build the company to ~ 50 people, and dozens of enterprise customers before it was acquired by Akamai. After the transition he led the efforts to integrate Network24's products into the Akamai network.Prior to Network24, Sylvanus lead a small team at Apple (by way of Taligent) which pioneered work on Java-MCF which was a precursor to the XML standard proposed by a member of the team. At IBM, he inspired and led the team that developed OOADM - the predecessor to UML. OOADM was licensed to IBM's business partners. Sylvanus was appointed to IBM's Corporate Strategic Technology Advisory team, and received IBM's Outstanding Technical Achievement award for his work on Computer-Aided Software Engineering. He was a leader in IBM's TCP/IP product team, and developed networking solutions for IBM controllers.As a senior engineer at RCA, supported the development of HF, UHF, and SHF wireless systems, and later led the CMOS VLSI design for secure digital voice processing.
