Through an extensive work history, I have developed key skills to ensure that I am a creative, responsible, highly motivated, and dedicated member of society. My employment history includes multiple management positions that have allowed me to develop key insights into leadership. I hold a Master of Arts in Legal Studies from Carleton University. With a strong focus on theory and methodology, my research lies in historical trauma theory and inequities in the child welfare system. As such, my thesis is entitled “A Significant Negative Impact: Assessing the Link Between Historical Trauma and Indigenous Child Removal Policies and the Disproportionate Number of Indigenous Children in the Child Welfare System". My thesis was accepted with distinction and without revisions due to the high caliber of research and organizational structure. I am a trained Gladue writer. This certification furthers the goals of Gladue by training students in best practices in Gladue, including ethical and appropriate research practices in interviewing, ethnocultural and historical research, the importance of balancing cultural and legal imperatives in the form, content, and structure of the reports, and crafting reasonable and realistic sentencing recommendations.I look forward to continuing my research interest and passion for education as I transition to my Doctor of Philosophy in Legal Studies degree in the fall of 2022.
