Sylvia is the first Paralegal at the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA). She provides legal advice and support to FRSA’s Market Conduct/Compliance, Forensic Analysis and Investigations teams on various litigation matters before the Financial Services Tribunal and in the Ontario Court of Justice under the Provincial Offences Act. Her responsibilities include prosecuting regulatory matters and engagement with law enforcement agencies/regulators.Prior to working at FSRA, Sylvia worked at various well recognized insurance defence and subrogation law firms. Sylvia has 20+ years of litigation experience with an emphasis on Insurance Law. She has handled matters ranging from WSIB to accident benefits to subrogation. Throughout her career, she has worked on matters before various tribunals and routinely attended Small Claims Court. She has also assisted senior counsel with more complicated matters before the Superior Court of Justice, including class actions. Sylvia obtained her Law Clerk diploma at Durham College in 2001 and completed the Paralegal (with Honours) diploma program at Herzing College in 2013. She is a licensed Paralegal and member of the Law Society of Ontario [LSO]; who has also been an Associate member of the Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario [ILCO] since 2003. She enjoys the challenge of working with complex files and has a passion for consumer protection.
