Experience in case management, facilitation, federal and state government policies. Sylvia has worked in public service for Texas Health and Human Services related to policy, behavioral health, disaster response, and child welfare, as well as, the State of Oklahoma with the coordination and implementation of the Science of Hope in government agencies. Sylvia provided oversight and coordination of federal grants, outreach and disaster response services to survivors of declared disaster areas including: Hurricane Ike, Hurricane Harvey, Hurricane Maria and the coordination of federal grant for COVID-19 Crisis Counseling Program in 254 countries in Texas. Sylvia has worked with foster children without placements, unaccompanied immigrant children and families, case management during and after disasters and provided emergency unemployment and disaster benefit services to Texans. Sylvia is passionate about working with some of the most vulnerable populations, promoting empowerment and ensuring access to public services;Founder of Cancer Ministry, a dedicated faith-based service to assist cancer survivors and families. Sylvia also served on an Advisory Board Member for the American Cancer Society.
