Editorial Coordinator

As an Editorial Coordinator, I was responsible for assisting in all stages of book and journal development. My primary responsibilities were related to the coordination of the Journal of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (JAAOS), "the #1 most-read journal in Orthopaedic Surgery" (Source: Kantar Media Medical/Surgical Readership Data, June 2017). I was tasked with coordinating editorial and blinded peer review, manuscript and art tracking, and manuscript formatting. I analyzed text and figures in suspected cases of plagiarism and duplicative publishing. Manuscript and decision processing fell under my purview, as did the author submission invitation and notification processes, and the maintenance of the manuscript submission websites. I worked with colleagues to train temporary staff in the intake and processing of journal manuscripts for JAAOS, updated training documents as necessary, provided software training for permanent staff, and resolved software issues as needed.
