This summer I ran an experiment in which I worked closely with my post-doc supervisors to build a set-up and then run experiments to study granular chain dynamics as they are being vibrated to simulate random 3D motion. I learned Matlab to then write programs and analyze the videos to gather data on the motion of the chain under various conditions.
