Key point of contact for 400+ benefit eligible employees. Organizes and processes all documentation (new hires, claims, etc.) relating to health, dental, life insurance, AD&D, Utah Retirement Systems, cafeteria plan, post-employment medical plan, retiree insurance, COBRA, and long-term disability. Receives and processes employment applications for civilian and sworn positions • Assists in rating and ranking applications to create a certified list of eligible applicants • Schedules appointments and interviews • Assists in administering entry level and promotional examinations, including written tests, physical performance tests and practical examinations • Assists in the process of hiring full-time employees, both sworn and civilian • Assists supervisors in interviewing applicants for positions • Conducts open enrollment and benefits fairs • Conducts orientation to new hires • Receives and processes insurance and benefit claims • Prepares employee communications (newsletter articles, flyers) regarding benefits and liability issues • Works closely with insurance agencies and Utah Retirement Systems to research and resolve problems • Provides exit interviews with terminating or retiring employees and advises them of continuation-of-benefits eligibility • Enters new hire information & benefits into HRIS • Assists in department budget preparation

Primary representative for the Human Resource division for internal and external stakeholders • Manages all human resource functions for the office, including new hire forms, recruitment, workers compensation, travel requests and tuition reimbursement • Provides consultation and support to all staff regarding policies and procedures • Provides consultation and support in the recruitment processes, including development and implementation of recruitment strategies • Oversees annual physicals for employees • Acts as point of contact with contracted medical provider • Responsible for OSHA required submissions and State of Utah required labor documents, including tracking injury and accident statistics and the preparation of annual safety report • Ensures that all new employees’ information is processed through Utah Retirement Systems, E-Verify, and the Utah State Data Base
