LeadAR equips business and community leaders with the tools to drive change through equitable, empowering and sustainable strategies. We will address significant issues facing our neighbors and develop innovative ideas for lasting change. National and international study tours enable participants to learn how issues in these areas intersect with and impact decisions in the United States and in the State.

Key responsibilities:* Manage campaign operations and a five-person staff leading to a winning campaign in a six-way race, keeping incumbent below 50%* Administer Election Day operations, including collecting voting data, poll worker assignment, and other essential logistics* Cultivating grassroots and media relationships leading to key media coverage and interviews

Most of the activities with the APTA involved therapists in private practice. I was able to help therapists working in the public sector, particularly those working in schools and hospitals, gain a higher profile in the organization. Working at APTA I learned that cultivating relationships and being an honest broker are the rules of the game. I was able to craft and implement a legislative strategy and tactics that secured support for priority legislation from Chairpersons of the Congressional Black Caucus and the Congressional Hispanic Caucus after no success in previous legislative cycles.I also wrote and coordinated a bipartisan Congressional letter from the Democratic and Republican Co-chairs of the Congressional Youth Sports Caucus to 435 Members of Congress in advance of the bipartisan Annual Roll Call Congressional Baseball Game.

Crafting legislation is fraught with twists and turns, valleys and peaks. The U.S. House of Representatives is a fast-paced environment, that, with little notice, can turn on a dime.I moved across the Capitol Rotunda from the U.S. Senate to the U.S. House. During this time I worked on several high-profile issues, including the new Medicare Prescription Drug benefit, the reauthorization of the Telecom Act of 1995, and the bipartisan education reform law No Child Left Behind. Key accomplishments included securing Congressman Ross' role as a leader on health care and protecting key relationships with Arkansas residents.

I cut my eyeteeth in politics, government and constituent services with the youngest woman ever elected to the U.S. Senate and only the second woman to win a U.S. Senate seat from Arkansas. I was charged with writing constituent response letters about Social Security, immigration and other issues. While the legislative correspondent job can be tedious, the work product lasts. Letters that I wrote years ago responding to the Elian Gonzalez immigration crisis and to myths about the retirement, Social Security, and voting rights were still being used. I gained legislative analyst duties and became a junior legislative assistant. In this role, I initiated and coordinated Sen. Lincoln as lead Democratic sponsor on legislation (S.Con.Res. 130) creating a task force to study commemorating African-American slave labor in the U.S. Capitol’s construction.
