Sylvia Desrochers is currently EVP of film and entertainment at MPRM Communications. During her 20+ year career in Hollywood she has worked with lauded filmmakers such as Academy Award winners John Ridley (leading him to a Best Adapted Screenplay win for 12 Years a Slave), Freida Mock, James Moll, Susanne Bier, Sofia Coppola, Curtis Hanson, and Alfonso Cuaron – as well as Scott Alexander & Larry Karaszewski, Kim Peirce, Mira Nair, and Philip Kaufman for their theatrical and/or awards campaigns. She has a deep commitment to bringing independent feature films and documentaries to audiences, with recent campaigns for Nanny, Of An Age, Juniper, You Are Not My Mother, You Won’t Be Alone, Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power, The Social Dilemma, Black Boys, Bring Your Own Brigade, Mayor Pete, Let It Fall, Grace Jones: Bloodlight and Bami, Mood Indigo, The We and the I, Ned Rifle, Omar, and War Witch. In addition to theatrical and awards campaigns, Desrochers has represented films at Cannes, Toronto, Sundance, SXSW, Hot Docs, Tribeca, AFI, Los Angeles Film Festival, and many more. Many of these projects have gone on to theatrical distribution and awards recognition, including: For Sama, Advocate, What We Leave Behind, Mami Wata, Bad Press, The Cathedral, Slash/Back, I Didn’t See You There, Rebel Hearts, Tom Petty: Somewhere You Feel Free, Accepted, Whirlybird, Diana Kennedy: Nothing Fancy, Anita, City of Gold, Tom Sachs Presents A Space Program, Crystal Fairy & the Magical Cactus, and Drunktown’s Finest. Desrochers also works with corporate clients who support filmmakers and creators, including USC Libraries Scripter Awards, Slamdance, Loyola Marymount School of Film and Television, NO Studios, Cinetic Media, Rutgers Film School, USC School of Dramatic Arts, Gamechanger, MUBI, Final Draft, The American Pavilion in Cannes, Vimeo, Ford Foundation, Screamfest, the TransNation Festival, the Indian Film Festival of Los Angeles, ReelAbilities Film Festival, and COLCOA French Film Festival. She began her film career in 1999 at Bumble Ward & Associates where she worked on theatrical and awards campaigns for American Beauty, Wonder Boys, and Y Tu Mama Tambien, among others. This was followed by short stints at Miramax and The Busby Group before founding Big Time PR in 2008. Big Time shuttered in June 2019 when Desrochers joined MPRM.
