As Deputy General Counsel at life sciences focused venture capital fund Medicxi, I advise on both early and late stage investments into biotech companies, including company creation, IP licensing, investment structure and exit. My focus is primarily on UK, European and US based investment and M&A transactions, but I also work on day to day corporate governance, compliance and looking after public company positions held by the fund. Medicxi investee companies are often virtual so my role also involves assisting our companies with commercial agreements and day to day legal matters.Prior to joining Medicxi I was an associate in the Corporate team at Nabarro LLP (now CMS Cameron McKenna Nabarro Olswang LLP) where I gained experience advising on a broad range of private and public company UK and cross border transactions, including IPOs, takeovers, mergers and acquisitions, restructurings and venture capital transactions in the tech and biotech sectors acting for companies and investors. I am an Arabic speaker and have a particular interest in life sciences and the healthcare sector generally. As part of my previous role, I spent time on secondment at GlaxoSmithKline, providing legal support to the UK & Ireland Pharma business and ViiV.
