Phd Researcher
PhD candidate in the Institute for Public Health Genomics (IPHG), Department of Genetics and Cell Biology and Research Institute GROW (School for Oncology & Developmental Biology). The title of the PhD "Public Health Genomics: Translation of genomic research on smoking behaviour into evidence synthesis and guidelines for Public Health"The two main objective of the PhD thesis were the following(i) Improving healthcare for smokers: Knowledge gathering about genomic and non-genomic factors leading to smoking initiation and cessation in order to develop a more holistic approach to better prevent smoking initiation and promote smoking cessation & Exploring the biological mechanisms leading to smoking initiation, addiction, cessation and smoking related disorders.(ii) Enhancing communication of genomic risks about smoking in the general population: Genomic risk communication both at the individual and societal level to enhance the health and the genomic literacy of the population.
