Practising law for over 30 years, I am a senior partner in BLG’s Commercial Real Estate Group as well as in the Energy focus group. I have lead some of the largest transactions in Québec, such as the sale in 2022 of 30 multi-residential properties in the GMA which was an unprecedented transaction, the sale of the World Trade Centre of Montreal (a mixed-use complex), the acquisition for redevelopment of the Molson breweries site (4,500,000 square feet of buildable lands), the acquisition of a 50% interest in the DIX30 centre and the sale of the Bonaventure-Hilton hotel. I have headed the development and financing of 3 wind farms and 6 hydro-electric projects. I love creating partnerships or co-ownerships that change the landscape of cities!I represent sellers, purchasers and joint venturers in real estate transactions as well as creditors and debtors in connection with the financing of major real estate complexes. The transactions and development that I headed comprise the full spectrum of commercial real estate including hotels, shopping centres, office buildings, multi-residential properties and senior housing residences. I am proud of the very complex real estate structures and partnership/co-ownership arrangements that I assisted in putting in place.My expertise and the nature of my work lead to me to supervise and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.My clients include pension funds, REITs, public and private companies, as well as financial institutions for both real estate and energy related work.In addition to the above, I notably led (few examples):• the acquisition of air rights for the development of a branded hotel in Espace Montmorency in 2022• the creation of rights of superficies coupled with a lease for the REM station in the Montreal-Trudeau airport • the sale of 2 hotels in Montreal, the Château Champlain and the Bonaventure Hilton; the acquisition of the Sheraton Dorval and Delta Sherbrooke• the acquisition of the super-regional DIX30 shopping center in Brossard (Qc) in 2014• acquisition of a 15-building portfolio in Montréal (Qc) in 2012.• sale of the La Cité multi-residential complex in Montréal (Qc), ± $232 million in 2012.• sale of two office buildings in Mississauga, Ontario, for more than $60 million in 2011.• the sale of the Bentall V building in Vancouver (BC) in 2009I hold special expertise in the development and financing of hydroelectric projects, wind farms and biomass plants.
