Lectures : materials & engineering sciences, fracture mechanics and fatigue of materials - Département de génie Mécanique - http://www.dgm.ens-cachan.fr/ Research : I am a specialist of fracture mechanics and works in the field of defect tolerance design methods in non-linear conditions (inelastic material behaviour, non-isothermal loading conditions, mixed mode crack growth in non-linear conditions, contact mechanics and fretting-fatigue) for aerospace, energy and naval applications. By now, I am developing approaches based on principal components analysis and the thermodynamics of irreversible processes. This method allows to model crack growth, as it is done for the modeling of the non-linear behavior of the materials, but with a formalism based on non-local state variables tailored for characterizing the non-linear behavior of the material around moving singularities such as crack fronts or contact fronts with the minimum possible independent degrees of freedom. As a vice rector for research and doctoral education at ENS Cachan, I was in charge of the promotion and follow up of the different research groups of ENS Cachan, of the cooperation for research and for doctoral education and in particular to follow and to participate to the construction of the new doctoral schools of Université Paris-Saclay and the research departements. I was also in charge of the career development of faculty members of ENS Cachan, in relation with their research activity.

From sept. 2014 to March 2016 I have been the project leader for the development of the doctoral education of Université Paris-Saclay (18 member institutions, 20 "newborn or restructurated" doctoral schools and and 5300 PhD students). It implied the set-up of a network of people (directors of the doctoral schools, representatives of the member institutions, elected PhD students, staff involved in doictoral education), of an information system, of a quality assurance system etc.Since march 2014 I am the dean of doctoral education and I am in charge of promoting the doctoral education of Université Paris-Saclay and of coordinating the activity of the 20 doctoral schools, which includes the recruitment, follow up, training and assessment of 5300 PhD students.
