I am professor at UCLouvain where I teaches international law, notably human rights law, international and refugee law and private international law. I am especially interested in how the law governs transnational situations and in the relationship between human rights and sovereignty. I am also an associate lawyer at the Walloon Brabant bar. The crucial need for a practice has motivated this double hat. I founded the CASABEL law firm, which became INLAW in January 2021. INLAW is specialised in International and European law, and notably in Human Rights and Mobility.Nearly ten years ago, at UCLouvain, with Pr. Jean-Yves Carlier, Emmanuelle Neraudau and Luc Leboeuf, We founded the EDEM (Equipe Droits européens et migrations, Research Team on European Laws and Migration), which I have the pleasure to coordinate since then. It is now an international team and also a network of more than 20 researchers. EDEM is connected with the Odysseus academic network. EDEM is involved in several interdisciplinary research projects (LIMA, GLOBMIG, VULNER, ISEMI...) since I am convinced that humanities as well as hard sciences are essential to legal researches.As a teacher, I pay I pay a lot of attention to the involvement of students in their learning and to the learning service. For example, we have created the Rosa Parks legal clinic where students work in collaboration with NGOs. The democratisation of teaching is also at the heart of our projects, notably through the design of several MOOCs that are widely accessible or used as a support for interactive teaching. I am also pleased to participate in privileged partnerships in Canada, Morocco and South Kivu. There is a close relationship between EDEM and Cerdho, the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law of the University catholic of Bukavu.
