About Symone Gaskin

As my field suggests, I have an immense desire to be a vehicle for change through public policy, advocacy, and nonprofit work. I am specifically interested in environmental injustice, the intersectionality of race and gender, and mental health education. I hope to serve unhoused and underprivileged groups in my Atlanta community before working internationally in developing countries. A project I am extremely excited to continue developing is “The Souls of Black Folk”: A Comparative Historical Analysis of the Harlem Renaissance and Modern Art Movements. This research investigates the similarities between the Harlem Renaissance and artistic social movements seen today, using the research to inspire positive social change.
