About Symone Alexander, Ph.D.
Symone Alexander is a currently an Assistant Professor at Auburn University in Department of Chemical Engineering and is the Principal Investigator of the Alexander Research Team. Her research interests focus on the use of living systems and their environments inspiration to overcome challenges in material and engineering design. She led investigations ultrafast organismic physics as an Eckert Postdoctoral Research Fellow in the Bhamla Lab at Georgia Tech with a focus on insect and plant motion. Dr. Symone Alexander obtained her Ph.D. as a NSF Graduate Research Fellow at Case Western Reserve University in the Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering, advised by Dr. LaShanda Korley. During her Ph.D. she led investigations on self-assembly of small molecules and polymers and designed bioinspired composites. She obtained a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from Howard University in 2013, where she investigated DNA-polymer assemblies utilizing Atomic Force Microscopy under the advisement of Dr. Preethi Chandran.
