Achieved the delivery of authentication hardware to HBOS business customers and Retail Operations within the LBG Wholesale Banking Integration Programme. This required identifying the in-scope customers, putting in place application and fulfilment processes appropriate to each segment, and liaising with suppliers to ensure timely delivery. Numerous challenges relating to proposition definition, operations processes and resourcing, and supplier delivery issues were overcome.

In 2009 the FSA introduced new rules for the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), requiring depositors to provide a Single Customer View (SCV). I was responsible for a number of activities within the Barclays SCV Programme:- Developed a response to the question of transactions in-flight at the time of producing the SCV. During this work I contributed to a number of industry working groups at the British Bankers Association and Deloitte, and assisted Barclays agency banking customers with similar requirements.- Conducted an audit of the business requirements against the FSCS rules, and put in place a mechanism to enable traceability of the requirements through design and testing. This was succesfully audited by Deloitte.- Developed the approach for UAT and Live Proving.- Assisted other members of the team in building the operating model, defining how the SCV solution was to be managed as a BAU function and in the event of the Bank being placed in default.

Headed up the Business Analysis effort to implement a new client and product line for Sterling Insurance Group. This included the migration of live policies and the implementation of new operations to onboard new policies and manage claims.

Lead Business Analyst on a project to design and implement a Single Customer View for Barclays Retail Banking.

Managed the business analysis effort required within Premier Banking in the creation of a new high net worth home insurance product. In this role managed the input of Premier marketing and sales teams and a 3rd party supplier into the development of the product and service proposition (proposition developed in 6 weeks, product launched in 10 weeks end-to-end), produced an analysis of the operational impact on Premier Banking, and delivered staff communications, changes to internal processes and the provision of management information to the business.

During 2004, Barclays Bank was faced with the implementation of the Financial Services Authority’s new insurance regulations. Completing this required the identification and roll out of changes across multiple sales channels, over 100 products, several disparate systems and several thousand staff.I assisted the programme management team in the clarification of the requirements and obtaining key decisions from the business. I was subsequently was responsible for identifying business requirements and developing detailed designs to ensure regulatory compliance for the sale of Payment Protection Insurance (PPI).Latterly, I worked with the provider of Barclay’s payment protection insurance products to further enhance the sales process and tools.

Kensington Mortgages, a lender exploiting the niche market for sub-prime mortgages, started out operating in an entirely new market for the UK, but after 5 years faced the challenges of increased competition and tighter regulation as a maturing plc. I was part of a small group of consultants hired to develop the company's organisation and systems to meet the challenges of growth and regulatory compliance.I was responsible for ensuring that the operational components of the business were capable of supporting the changes being driven by the other areas of work. During this project I reviewed outsourcing arrangements and helped to put in place a long term solution to support the business through its planned growth. This involved conducting a detailed Request For Information process, engaged me in commercial and legal contractual negotiations and led to a responsibility to manage the implementation of a new mortgage underwriting system by a third party supplier.

I joined at a time of rapid growth for the company, diversifying into other channels, primarily web, digital television and mobile. I began working on Norwich Union’s project to create a wealth management business. My role in this was to specify a suite of web-based facilities which would allow customers to sign up for the service and self-maintain their account details.In the course of carrying out this work, it quickly became apparent that ETC’s business analysis capability was underdeveloped. Towards the close of the Norwich project I suggested to ETC’s management that I take charge of formalising the role of Business Analysts. Subsequent efforts to develop a methodology suited to ETC’s work and the recruitment of six business analysts led to me obtaining the position of Head of Business Analysis.

The Commercial Development unit was tasked with developing innovative financial services propositions, and with ensuring the capability of the business to meet those developments. Commercial Development was a joint endeavour with KPMG, who transferred a range of consulting skills to the NatWest team members as part of their involvement. In my role I was responsible for determining the operational requirements of new business propositions. My role encompassed the analysis of opportunities, finding and opening relationships with suitable supplier partners (external and internal), and reporting of our findings up to board level.
