As a commercial litigator, I advise on a diverse range of complex disputes such as those relating to: • professional negligence; • contractual interpretation; • miss-sold banking and investment products; • director/shareholder disputes; and • reputation management issues (particularly defamation and takedown requests to social media sites and Google). I often act on behalf of local authorities and other public bodies, large educational institutions, national charities and companies in the healthcare and energy sectors.In addition to my practical experience as a solicitor, I have completed an LLM in Public International Law at the University of Oslo. A key part of this was my Masters thesis, which involved extensive legal research on petroleum law and governance of the offshore energy sector. I focused on the practical application of Norway's legal framework for the petroleum industry and analysed how Norway's success might be replicated elsewhere. I developed a detailed understanding of how national oil companies are governed and analysed the strengths and weaknesses of different regulatory systems. My background in international law has provided me with a greater understanding of cross border transactions and how to research the legal issues that arise. During my Masters I also represented Norway in the Telders International Moot Court, Europe's most prestigious mooting competition. I and my fellow teammate went on to beat 27 other national teams to take first place. The final pleadings were held before the judges of the International Court of Justice and it was a privilege to be chosen by them as the winning team.
