As a therapist at Momentum Autism Services, my role involves providing individualized support to clients with autism. I work directly with each client, using evidence-based interventions like Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) to help them develop important skills, including communication, social interactions, and daily living tasks. I assess each client's needs through ongoing observations and formal assessments, and I collect data to track progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.I focus on managing challenging behaviors by teaching alternative, positive behaviors and using reinforcement to encourage progress. A big part of my job is collaborating with other team members, such as Board-Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), to ensure a comprehensive approach. I also work closely with parents and caregivers, providing training to help them support their child’s development outside of therapy.Ultimately, my goal is to help clients achieve greater independence and improve their quality of life, while continuously adapting our strategies to meet their needs.

It is a private agency which provides intensive ABA therapy incorporating speech and music therapies for the benefit of its clients. It was extremely advantageous to have gained hands-on experience in running sessions under supervision with focused guidance to enhance my ABA skill set. I also indulged in creating a Skill Acquisition Program for a learner, running it and training the staff for the same. This opportunity was part of my curriculum at Mohawk College for co-op placement 2, where I completed 214 hrs of substantial training. Errorless teaching was promoted throughout the task list, each tailored for the client and their needs. All instances are counted as behaviour, and where there is behaviour, there is learning, and I was taught to use these to incorporate desired outcomes with the clients.

This was an in-person training opportunity through Mohawk College for the completion of co-op placement 1. I was working with a special needs classroom with Autistic children of varying severity levels and needs. It was required of me to observe, report, aid and device suggestions for smooth learning of these children. I worked closely with 3 students, including all their developmental testing, milestone achievement and providing suggestions for their growth. ABA strategies were used on a daily basis which helped me to practicalize my theoretical learning of the concepts.

It was an online training where I honed the skills for detailed case history taking, MSE, Basic Counseling skills, techniques, methods, approaches, various disorders, Psychotherapies (CBT, ERP, Psychodrama), Psychological First Aid training and various psychological tests (TAT, CAT, Rorschach, VSMS, GDT, SFBT, WAPIS, BKT). I learned to exhibit and establish client relations through a portal by actively participating in role-plays and consistently attending the sessions.

Hands-on experience with clients ranging from mild to moderate severity in psychological functioning. Conducted sessions under supervision, developed several treatment plans and administered the Escorts Comprehensive Checklist on multiple occasions, participated in research work, workshops and psychoeducation campaigns. Worked with Swashrit Society (NGO), The Happiness Studio, SAGE and The Golden Estate through Fortis.

Provided major therapy sessions like occupational therapy, speech therapy, art-based expressive therapy etc. for PwD along with several test administrations and developing activity plans. The project trained me in enabling PwD to do their activities of daily living. Modification of their behavior and improving it with appropriate techniques. Providing them with interventions in specific areas according to their need and giving them vocational training for the purpose of independence and self-support.

Direct guidance and observation under a psychiatrist on how to deal with severe clients, OPD rounds and providing relaxation therapies. Exposed to the administration of multiple personalities and Projective tests. Worked with Jamghat (NGO) through Max, aimed to rehabilitate street children and to raise awareness within the children to equip them with the tools needed to be able, independent and responsible members of the society.
