In particular, we demonstrated that i) the river was adjusted to an over-narrow section to allow the formation of sediment deposits, thus a less simplify ecosystem, ii) the local bank structures, aimed at protecting the activities of the population within the valley, significantly affected the pre-channelization river flow; iii) geological constraints had exerted a non-trivial control on the long-term river development, e.g. meanders length and sinuosity.
