About Szilárd Németh
I believe what makes a good software engineer is to find the time to learn new things, experiment with new technologies, while performing every task promptly and efficiently as possible and seeking for the best solution for a particular problem. Halfway measures are not my preference, this applies to everything I have been doing in my life.I have no fear of working hard because it always pays off in the long run.I'm considering myself as a person who loves to work in team and can perform alone as well, as the task demands it. Working in team reveals a wide range of learning possibilities by having a chance to see how others think and approach problems. What motivates me is to work in an environment where I'm surrounded with smart, dedicated and helpful people.I'm the guy who is always walking the extra mile by writing readable and maintainable code and being able to dig deep into the problem in question. Having high expectations on myself in terms of code quality and the work performed is crucial to avoid doing the work twice and the overhead / cost for other peers.
Listed skills include Java, Java Enterprise Edition, Spring Framework, Spring Mvc, and 33 others.

Software Engineer
I have been working on Apache Hadoop YARN since I started at Cloudera, making changes to Resource Types, Fair Scheduler, GPU feature-related improvements, just to name a few.I coordinated the Budapest team with their efforts to integrate GPU-support into CDH (including Cloudera Manager integration) and laid the groundworks of integration testing the feature in Cloudera's Python-based testing framework.I have also been working on Apache Submarine a bit to integrate PyTorch as an additional framework along with TensorFlow and has been improving the code quality and increasing test coverage, making Submarine more enterprise ready.I became an Apache Hadoop committer (YARN) and Team Lead of the Budapest-YARN team in the summer of 2019. Since then, I'm also helping the team by reviewing and committing their upstream contributions. The latest bigger project was upgrading from CDH 5 to Cloudera's new data platform, CDP Data Center. I was involved in this project from start to finish: Initial planning, coordination, defining tasks, brainstorm on testing various upgrade scenarios. In the meantime, I was helping of our new hires to get them up to speed. If you are interested, you can check my Hadoop contributions here: https://drive.google.com/open?id=1Az1-QGFA2vUwbGKypOlWX6z-7mZQN8C-

At Hellmann, I was responsible for a wide variety of things as a Software Developer. When I joined the Budapest development team, our focus was targeted to add features to Hellmann's Track & Trace application. Later on, it has been decided that the Budapest team will own the project end to end, including its development and operation. As a next step, our team was given a chance to develop a green-field reporting tool called 'Road Live Reporting' for our customers. All decisions has been made by us, including the architecture, operational environment and the integration of the application to our existing systems.I was working at the headquarters of the firm for 6 months: my role was a bit different there as I also had to deal with customer requests / tickets related to the Hellmann Portal application, on top of my regular development and operational tasks. As a final chapter, I started to migrate one of our key legacy applications to Spring boot, rewriting it from scratch. The level of technical debt of the project and the amount of tickets reported by our customers made this task a very challenging one.Another challenge was that I also had to understand the domain model and feature-set of the application, as this knowledge has been evaporated over time.
Java Developer
Our team mainly developed and maintained the key applications of a new in-house built payment system. All of the projects were based on Spring / Spring Boot, the language of choice and the platform was Java 8 and we were using the REST architectural style.Within the team and to myself, it was very important to maintain the code quality and the code coverage at a high level, thankfully I had the opportunity to learn a lot and continuously improve the quality of our softwares.Additional tecnologies involved in the development: Spring Integration, Hibernate (Oracle DB), Mockito, Maven.

Software Developer
Since December 2013, I was part of a very dynamic and passionate team developing an innovation project in cooperation with Magyar Telekom. The project was based on Java Enterprise Edition technologies. I mainly worked on server-side (backend) components, but for a some months period, I created a couple of web UI views with AngularJS.
Software Developer
As a start, I mainly worked on a Swing based Mobile Media Gateway management application. The long story started with implementing a new view adapting to the very well-thought application architecture. The data management layer was well grounded too. I was involved in developing the controller and view segment of this MVC-like module.Since there was no code coverage literally, I learned a lot about unit testing and mocking practices. After I read Clean Code by Robert C. Martin, I felt the need to apply the learned knowledge in my everyday work.Later on, I was involved in the development of the so-called "health and configuration checks" in python in the System check module for the Media Gateway, which purpose is to check the node's health and configuration consistency.Another big achievement with my passionate team was developing a completely new module to the Media Gateway. This application was responsible for collecting performance data and save it regularly, and provide an API to gather the performance counter data. At a later phase, a rule parser engine was added, providing a way to the customers to create custom formulae out of the pre-existing formulae, addressing their performance management issues. These KPIs (Key Performance Indicators) could be combined in the custom formulae, so they could give an insight about what's happening on the node performance-wise.Our team was in a lucky position where we had the opportunity to design the application's architecture and building blocks from scratch which was a relatively rare thing at the department I worked, because the Media Gateway software was mature. We worked hard to implement this module as well-testable as possible, paying attention to maintain the application's open for extension nature from the very beginning.Naturally I learned a lot more about unit testing (particularly JUnit and Mockito) while I was part of this development.
