Sérgio Correia de Araújo Almeida Mendes was born in Porto in 1962. He graduated in Architecture from Escola Superior Artística do Porto in 1986. He obtained the degree of “Doctor por la Universidad de Valladolid (PhD)” by the Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura at the Universidad de Valladolid, Spain, in 2014. He was awarded the Portuguese academic degree of Doctor by the University of Porto, also in 2014.He is an Assistant Professor in the teaching staff of the Integrated Master's Course in Architecture taught at ESAP - Escola Superior Artística do Porto and member of the scientific council of this school. He is Director of the Architecture Department at ESAP. He is director and researcher at LIAD - Laboratory of Research in Architecture and Design. Integrates the NFC - ESAP Credited Training Center (Núcleo de Formação Creditada da ESAP). He was a member of CDC - Construction Documentation Center.He has been an Architect since 1986, having carried out numerous architectural projects of diverse scope, as well as projects in the area of urbanism and design. Several of his works have been published in national magazines, having also participated in several architecture exhibitions.
