About Tonya Howe

I built my first desktop computer with parts from RadioShack (RIP) in the 1990s. My first loves were computer science and visual arts, but being one of the only women in my CS classes, on the one hand, and a first-generation college student from a lower working-class family, on the other, I ended up studying a first love I didn't think would serve my career goals well: English. But merging my interests in technology with my interests in text has been a surprising niche, and it's led me to web development, curriculum design, e-learning, data visualization, and more. I have spent the last 15 years as a professor of literature, and in the past 5, I've become more engaged in grant writing, with awards for selective digital humanities grants. I'm trying to write the next chapter of my life--and I'm open to work!
