I listen to, study, and analyze the music of the Flamenco Vocal tradition from southern Spain. My tasks include studying and reporting on Spanish history and culture, learning the Spanish language, aurally identifying trends in flamenco music, conducting a music analysis of available flamenco scores, and understanding the performance practice and tradition of the musical culture and being able to apply them. This project culminates in a series of lectures, recitals and scholarly papers.
