Becoming a Portfolio Manager at atomos is a position that I aspired to since my first job in the industry. I have progressed quickly through hard work, ambition and the trust of my employers. I also consistently bugged my boss into effectively fast tracking me and got lucky with company circumstances! My responsibilities include managing client portfolios, providing investment advice and ensuring my clients' goals are met.

In this role, I took significant steps towards becoming a Portfolio Manager. I applied what I'd learned in my previous role and started to put it into practice with clients. Through numerous client visits I witnessed first-hand the positive benefits of long term investments and how much reassurance and security this brings to them and their families.

I joined Sanlam because I wanted to move to a company that had a Portfolio Management team, I planned to use this as a springboard into that. By this stage I had a more proven track record of being promoted early and training staff. This gave me a background and understanding of the importance of these more 'behind the scenes' roles, and how that enables Portfolio Managers to deliver good outcomes for their clients.

My entry into the financial services industry began with Novia. The role was (and still is) crucial after the 2008 financial crisis where rules around the segregation of client and firm money were tightened significantly.
