As an agricultural extension agent I worked as a liaison between the national agricultural research group and individual farmers in Senegal. Our goal was to promote higher yielding crop varieties to increase food security in the region. In addition to this work, the village in which I lived had a well that was drying up and needed replacement. The village had identified the lack of water as the most pressing issue facing them, so we worked together to raise the funds for digging a replacement well.
