I have always had a strong belief in the importance of knowledge exchange, which led me to complete my AMTRA RAMA (SQP) qualification in 2017. This is something that I maintain with regular CPD work and allows me to keep up to date and informed on key animal health topics affecting livestock farmers. In 2021 I joined the Moredun North of England board as a regional advisor, this involves feeding current issues affecting the area into the main board and research program. 2021 also saw the start of the Farming in Protected Landscapes Programme in Northumberland National Park, of which I am on the Local Assessment Panel. Academically my background is in the science sector, including a Masters of Research from Newcastle University. However, I have always lived on farm and over the last nine years have been back heavily involved in agriculture. At home we have both beef and sheep enterprises, breeding pedigree Aberdeen Angus and North Country Cheviots on a tenanted hill farm. In 2018 I also took on the role of secretary to our local agricultural show, which has been a great experience so far, although not without its challenges.
