Registered Nurse
• Part of Preschool Assessment Center (PAC) to evaluate children for special education. • Perform assessments, with a multidisciplinary team, on over 200 children per year, aged 2-6 years old, and place them in special education classes as needed.• Assessments include: vision, hearing, fine motor, and gross motor screenings• Obtained relevant medical information through parent and medical professional interviews and reports• Wrote a comprehensive health report for each child assessed• Provided and connected families to community resources• Examples of disabilities assessed include: autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, TBI, chromosome duplications/deletions, Digeorge syndrome, cochlear implants, congenital cataracts, muscular dystrophy• Member of a multidisciplinary team that works to improve the standard of care provided by SJUSD special education and health services departments • Member of a small nurse group committee that meets once a month to improve the standard of care provided by SJUSD nurses
