As a Director and Assistant General Counsel with Ameren Services Company, I support Ameren Corporation and all its subsidiaries (collectively "Ameren") in all things risk and safety related. I oversee and personally manage pre-suit claims (e.g., property damage, personal injury, contractual disputes, etc.); litigation (e.g., general liability, tort, toxic tort, real estate, contract, tax, employment, antitrust, etc.), worker's compensation, and OSHA, as well as manage and guide outside counsel handling matters for Ameren Corporation and its subsidiaries. I lead a team of both Ameren employees and external contractors in the execution of my daily activities.I also work daily on cross-organizational and cross functional teams to provide a more rounded and collaborative approach to matters that reach every corner of the business.

National in-house litigation counsel for a large corporation and its subsidiary companies. I actively and personally manage a large caseload- from pre-litigation demands through appeals. I oversee and manage litigation placed with outside counsel. I perform a variety of in-house tasks, including responding to subpoenas served upon the holdings company and its subsidiaries and providing guidance to companies’ officers and employees on a daily basis. I also assist other members of the legal tam with employment related matters and the reviewing, editing and drafting of contracts.

I was a civil litigation defense attorney responsible for a large active caseload defending, inter alia, allegations of negligence, fraud, civil conspiracy, breach of contract, assault, false imprisonment, and damage claims involving premise liability, construction, real estate transactions, personal injury, medical and mental health care, lost wages and potential future damages. I had an extensive litigation practice including conducting and defending depositions; attending case management conferences, scheduling conferences and motion hearings; and working with expert witnesses in defense of litigation. I also prepared pleadings, motions, legal memorandum, pre-trial motions and jury instructions. I prepared legal memoranda to clients summarizing claims, applicable law, potential defenses and litigation status updates. I also co-wrote an article for publication and presentation at the Federation of Defense and Corporate Counsel’s winter 2015 meeting, "Am I Secure? Never-mind, The Hacker Just Told Me No. A Case Study of Cyber Security Including Legal Protections, Insurance Concerns and Security Strategies."

I was solely responsible for a large active caseload involving federal and state civil rights, health care, torts, certiorari review of administrative proceedings and the application and interpretation of Department of Correction regulations and policies. I drafted pleadings, motions, legal memorandum, appellate briefs and extensive discovery. I engaged in extensive litigation practice; including motion practice, case management conferences, scheduling conferences, depositions and trials. Trial experience includes second seat in a USDC bench trial, second seat in USDC jury trial and second seat in a Middlesex Superior Bench trial. I conducted direct and redirect examination of witnesses, presented opening arguments and written and argued motions in limine. I represented the Department of Correction’s interest in Massachusetts State Court on Criminal Rule 17 motions, discovery and hearings. I regularly provided in-house counsel to chief Department of Correction officials. As Regulations Counsel, I also conducted legal reviews for each Department of Correction regulation and policy and prepare the regulations for promulgation pursuant to the Administrative Procedures Act (“APA”), which included convening and administrating public hearings.

I made daily civil court appearances throughout the Commonwealth’s Superior and District Courts, handled case management conferences, pretrial conferences, negotiation/conciliation sessions, motion practice, small claim magistrate hearings and small claims compliance and contempt hearings. I managed an extensive caseload, while addressing counterclaims, 93A matters, discovery and trial preparation. I drafted pleadings, motions, legal memorandums and discovery.
