Responsible and accountable for the delivery of nursing services for all nursing staff and nursing operations. Administrative responsibility for Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement, Infection Prevention, Care Coordination, Social Services, Staff Growth and Development, and Employee Health within Robert C. Byrd Clinic. Actively involved at the executive level in the leadership of the organization in all planning, budgeting, policy making and decision making related to clinical operations.

Direction and management of providers and staff (150+ FTEs). Responsible for operational and capital budgeting, physician compensation and incentives, compliance with regulatory agencies, and growth and development of 18 outpatient clinics. Experience with quality improvement, Accountable Care Organizations, and creation and implementation of policy and procedures and staff competencies.

Assists the Executive Director of Perioperative Services with effective management including, but not limited to: developing priorities, goals and action plans to ensure the organization is a place of choice for the communities health care needs; assesscompliance to best nursing practice and clinical performance; ensure all practices in accordance with regulatory and quality standards; ensures quality patient care outcomes; budget compliance; process improvement utilizing Lean methodology; oversight of daily operations of all perioperative areas (PAT, Endoscopy, OR, OR Sterile, OPS, PACU, and Surgery Center); leader and role model for all employees; addresses staff and physicians concerns in a timely manner; works collaboratively with all ancillary departments and their leaders to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Plans, directs, coordinates, and ensures continuous improvement in performance, productivity, efficiency, effectiveness and profitability. Leads development, manages change, creates and sustains a healthy work environment. Assists with identifying educational needs for staff and establishes in-service in partnership with the perioperative services educator. Partners with professional and technical schools to enhance clinical education programs and professional growth. Facilitates problem solving and critical thinking. Develops, interprets, supports and implements nursing and perioperative policies and procedures. Collects and monitors statistics and metrics for budget and FTE management. Ensures compliance with regulatory organizations. Responsible for employee recruitment, retention, supervision, and evaluation. Focuses on quality patient care and patient satisfaction.

Responsible for patient and staff education, patient care in the pre- and post-operative phases of surgery, and long-term follow-up. Review test results and triage patient phone calls to ensure potential complications are identified and resolved. Collection of statistics, monitor performance & quality improvement, and organization of patient activities, such as monthly support groups and seminars. Management of budget, collaborate with marketing, supervise staff, customer service, obtain program certifications, and ensure program maintains compliance with all regulatory organizations.

Staff nurse on a 26-bed Med-Surge floor caring for patients completing all duties included in the typical, busy Med-Surge setting, in addition to the following: Evening charge nurse. Preceptor for new hires, graduate nurses, and nursing students. Member of the Performance Improvement and Discharge Teams. Provided adult-centered education to patients and their families. Effective communication with patients, families, and healthcare team. Appropriate delegation of tasks.
