• Study non-heme iron complexes capable of reducing nitrogenous small molecules (e.g. N3-, NO) resulting in the formation of NH3• Develop new water-soluble ligands for iron complexes with the goal of forming iron catalysts that can perform oxyanion reductions in water• Develop synthetic protocols for making early transition metal complexes with a family of ligands• Implement air-free synthesis techniques including Schlenk line chemistry and glovebox chemistry• Analyze reactions and characterize metal complexes through a wide-range of analytical techniques: multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, IR spectroscopy, UV-Visible spectroscopy, EPR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, cyclic voltammetry, single-crystal X-ray diffraction studies (both in-house and at a synchrotron source)

I participated in a 3-week professional development program that focused on developing creative solutions to national security problems such as deep fakes and aging of explosives. I worked in a multi-disciplinary group to develop and write a research proposal focusing on rapid and remote diagnostics of an unknown infectious disease.
