About Tabitha Lockard

I am a seasoned Registered Behavior Technician with over four years and 5,000 hours working directly with clients with an ASD (Autism Spectrum Disorder) diagnosis providing behavioral support and collecting qualitative and quantitative data. I enjoy working with diverse populations and finding innovative and engaging ways to foster behavioral change. I am passionate, detail oriented, analytical, and thoughtful. In working with clients, I strive to be sensitive not only to the needs of the client but also the family and surrounding community, understand what motivates the client, learn and respect the client’s culture, and provide client dignity and means for self-advocacy. As an RBT, I have worked case loads of up to four clients a day across the city of Reading, PA and greater Berks County. I have worked with behaviors including inattention, noncompliance, physical aggression, self-injury, elopement, and echolalia and collaborated with parents, teachers, classmates and other members of the community to implement the client’s behavior plan, teach skills, transfer instructional control, maximize effectiveness of the environment, and mediate between parties. I have taught social skills, play skills, communication skills, self-regulation and self-advocacy, motivated on-task and compliance behaviors, and implemented ITT, VB-MAPP, PECS, and potty training programming under therapist guidance. I increased my conversational Spanish ability and therapy specific vocabulary on the job working in primarily Spanish-speaking homes. I have a background in childcare and social services, and am interested in civil rights, ethics, technical writing, research and analysis, teaching and education, community advocacy, child development, neurological development, holistic healthcare, non-profits, art, graphic design, history, linguistics, spirituality, sociology and psychology.
