Citizens Advice Network: Advice Work, Charity Management And Project Management In The Advice Sector
Citizens Advice is the leading independent organisation offering free confidential advice about debt, welfare benefits, legal, housing, consumer, and other problems to those in need at local centres throughout the UK. I began working with Citizens Advice as a volunteer adviser in 2009 but quickly took on more responsible and managerial roles over the following years.I have worked in multiple face-to-face roles for Citizens Advice in Buckinghamshire, Bedfordshire and Oxfordshire including financial capability worker and case worker, advising clients in need about finances, benefits, and debt.I have supervised other advisers as an advice services supervisor in Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire, ensuring that the quality of our advice to clients was consistent and effective.I also ran multiple projects for Citizens Advice, including setting up and running the Pension Wise service in Milton Keynes, Oxfordshire, and Reading in 2015-6, delivering consistent and accessible guidance to those over 50 with money-purchase pensions. I was Chief Officer of Citizens Advice Leighton Linslade between 2017 and 2019, and was responsible for the entire CA service and the delivery of all its functions, including advice, outreach, fundraising, meeting national audit and funder requirements, and stakeholder engagement (including arranging and hosting a visit by HRH the Princess Royal in 2019). I left this job in order to spend a year's sabbatical with my husband in Christchurch, New Zealand. My current post with Citizens Advice is as advice services manager at Citizens Advice North Oxfordshire and South Northamptonshire (CA NOSN), which I have held since 2021.
